Our clinic is in Delhi, so there is no trip to plan
Dr. Sunita Singh Rathore, Gynecologist and IVF Specialist, Delhi Medical Council Reg. No. 18257.
Every consultation, scan and procedure happens at our Delhi clinic, close enough to book around a working day. One doctor plans your treatment and gives you an itemised estimate in writing.
No other city in North India has as many registered surrogacy clinics as Delhi. The entries are spread widely. Greater Kailash, Defence Colony and Panchsheel Park are in the south, Connaught Place in the centre. Janakpuri, Uttam Nagar and Dwarka cover the west. Each registration number begins with DL/SC, followed by a year and a serial number.
A long list is useful, but it also makes choosing harder. Being on the registry tells you a clinic is allowed to carry out surrogacy. It does not tell you what a clinic includes in its price, how it plans treatment, or who you will see at each visit. The sections below help you narrow the list down.

In their words: Delhi couples we treated
-
After years of IVF, Ritu and Anand turned to surrogacy. They valued that the doctor was candid from the start that success could not be promised. The legal process took time, but every step was done by the book.

Shalini and Deepak travelled from Kolkata to Delhi for treatment. One coordinator kept a single checklist for their travel, certificates, IVF and delivery, so they always knew the next step.

Verify a Delhi clinic in five minutes
Do this before the first paid consultation. It costs nothing and removes most of the risk.
- Search the registryOpen the list of registered surrogacy clinics on the National ART & Surrogacy Registry and search the clinic's name.
- Match the numberAsk the clinic for its surrogacy registration certificate and check that the number matches the registry row.
- Match the addressThe locality on the certificate should be the branch you will actually visit. A group with several branches may register them separately.
- Look for both registrationsA clinic needs ART registration for IVF and a separate surrogacy clinic registration. One without the other is not enough.
- Check renewalART registration must be renewed every five years. Ask when the clinic's current registration runs to.
What to ask before you sign
With so many Delhi clinics to choose from, the answers to these questions do the sorting for you. Ask for every answer in writing.
- Which doctor plans and supervises the treatment from start to finish?
- Is there an itemised written estimate, with tests and medicines shown separately?
- How many embryo transfers does the price include, out of the three the law allows?
- Who arranges the surrogate's 36-month insurance, and is it in the quote?
- Where will the surrogate deliver, and what happens to the cost if she needs a caesarean?
- If donor eggs or sperm are certified as needed, which registered ART bank supplies them?
- Does the clinic work with an advocate for the certificates and the parentage order?
A clinic that is vague on these points will usually be vague later too. For our own figures, see the surrogacy cost page for Delhi.
Shortlisting without visiting every clinic
With fifteen entries on the Delhi list, few couples can visit them all. Busy schedules make a shortlist essential, and most of the sorting can happen by phone or WhatsApp.
Start with three or four clinics. Ask each for a photo of its surrogacy registration certificate and a sample itemised estimate. Drop any clinic that will not share either before a paid visit.
Then book first consultations only with the two or three that remain. Take the question list above with you, and write the answers down in the room. Comparing notes the same evening is far easier than relying on memory a week later.
Does the part of Delhi matter?
Less than most couples expect. Over the whole process, the wife has to be present for scans, egg collection and a few reviews. The surrogate attends many more visits than you do.
Distance matters most on egg collection day, when the wife needs to get home and rest. A clinic on your metro line or near your office can make that day easier. Registration, the doctor and a clear estimate still matter more than a shorter drive.
Red flags in a Delhi surrogacy offer
Walk away if you hear any of these
A fee for the surrogate beyond medical costs, loss of wages and insurance. Any promise of a baby, or of certain success. An offer to select the baby's sex. Surrogacy offered to single people or foreigners, who are not eligible under the 2021 Act.
Each of these breaks the law or promises what no clinic can promise. The process and certificates page explains what a legal surrogacy actually involves.
