Mumbai has no shortage of IVF centres, so a couple who looks at Delhi usually has a reason. Some want a particular doctor. Others want a fresh opinion after a cycle that did not work, or a written estimate to test a local quote against.
The test tube baby cost on this page is what you pay at our Delhi clinic, itemised line by line. The main reason it is a range is medicine: the dose depends on age, egg reserve and how the ovaries respond.
Distance changes the planning more than the price. Blood tests, semen analysis and early scans can be done at a lab in Mumbai and reviewed on WhatsApp. You come to Delhi for the steps that need the clinic, mainly egg collection and embryo transfer. The flight is about 2 hours 10 minutes; the Rajdhani Express takes around 16 hours.

When IUI or egg freezing fits better
Not every couple needs IVF as a first step. Some ask about egg freezing to keep the option of a later pregnancy; its price is listed here as well.

How a cycle works across two cities
- Tests in MumbaiHormone tests, AMH, semen analysis and a pelvic scan at a lab near you. Reports go to the doctor on WhatsApp.
- First visit to DelhiThe doctor examines you, explains the plan and gives a written estimate. Both partners usually attend.
- StimulationDaily injections help several eggs grow, usually over about ten to twelve days. The doctor tells you which scans can be done in Mumbai and when you need to be in Delhi.
- Egg collectionA short procedure under anaesthesia. The wife rests for the rest of that day, so avoid a same-day flight.
- Embryo transferDone a few days later, or in a later month with frozen embryos. A frozen transfer means a separate, shorter trip.
- Pregnancy testA blood test about two weeks after transfer, which you can take in Mumbai.
ICSI cost and when it is needed
ICSI means injecting a single sperm into each mature egg in the lab. Doctors usually suggest it for a low sperm count, poor sperm movement, or when eggs did not fertilise in an earlier cycle.
On its own, ICSI adds ₹20,000 – ₹50,000 to a cycle. That is why the IVF price with ICSI sits higher than a standard cycle. The ICSI treatment page explains the method and who needs it.
Setting a Mumbai IVF centre quote beside ours
A lower headline figure is not always a lower total. Ask each IVF centre the same questions:
- Are injections and medicines inside the figure, or billed separately?
- Is embryo freezing included, and what is storage each year? Ours is ₹5,000 – ₹15,000.
- What does a later frozen embryo transfer cost? Ours is ₹40,000 – ₹80,000.
- Can the centre show its registration under the ART (Regulation) Act, 2021?
Be wary of anyone who quotes success rates as a promise. Chances depend mainly on age, egg reserve, sperm quality and embryo quality, and the doctor explains realistic odds only after seeing your tests.
Also check whether consultation fees and pre-IVF tests are counted. Our table shows both as separate lines, so nothing sits outside the figure.
Cases where the cycle costs more
Some couples need more than a standard cycle. The doctor tells you after the tests, so the written estimate already reflects it.

After a positive test, care moves closer to home
The IVF cost covers treatment up to the pregnancy test. It does not include antenatal care or delivery.
Once the pregnancy is confirmed and early scans look settled, you can usually continue with an obstetrician in Mumbai. Your doctor will tell you when that move makes sense for you.
Carry copies of every scan and lab report when you switch, so the new obstetrician has the full history.
